Leak detection and repairs

About

The expensive part of a leak is rarely the pipe. It is the plaster, the flooring, the ceiling and the mould that follow when the leak runs for weeks behind a wall. CH Plumbing Projects finds the source first, then repairs it. That is the difference between a lasting fix and a patch that weeps again in a month.

We attend leak jobs across the Central Coast and Hunter — from a split copper in a bathroom wall through to a slab leak that only shows as a warm patch of floor or a meter that never sits still.

Signs you have a hidden leak

  • Water meter turning with every tap off

  • Damp or bubbling paint on a wall or ceiling

  • A warm section of floor on a concrete slab

  • Unexplained high water bills

  • The sound of water in a wall when nothing is running

  • Mould that returns in the same corner after cleaning

How detection is done

We start with the meter test and a visual inspection of every accessible fitting. If the leak is not obvious we narrow the zone — hot or cold, which branch, which room — before we open anything. Opening the wall in the right place once is cheaper than opening three walls to guess.

Repair, not just location

Once the source is confirmed we repair or isolate that section. On older copper this is often a split from age or a pin-hole from corrosion. On PEX and poly it is usually a failed fitting or a line that has been punctured. If the rest of the run is in the same condition we will say so, because repairing one hole in a dying line is a short stay of execution.

FAQs

Do I need the water off before you arrive?

If water is actively damaging the property, isolate at the meter. If you cannot find the meter, call and we will talk you through it.

Will you find a leak without tearing the house apart?

That is the point of detection. We open only what the evidence supports.

Is a slab leak always a full re-pipe?

No. Some slab leaks can be isolated and rerouted. We decide that after we know the path of the pipe, not before.
